About —

My name is Anders Rhedin. Hi. This website is about the ambient music I've created as well as the projects related to it.

I've also made a lot of music that isn't ambient. I spent the 2000s in my hometown of Copenhagen, Denmark, where I was in several bands. I was fortunate to help Jannis Noya Makrigiannis form Choir of Young Believers. I produced some Choir records and co-wrote with Jannis.

Then I moved to LA. I got signed to Captured Tracks with my indie-esque project, Dinner. I got to tour the world with artists I love, such as Mac Demarco, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, and Sean Nicholas Savage. That was fun. I put out four Dinner albums.

I've meditated daily for almost 20 years now. I've tried out a lot of different styles of meditation, gone to retreats on several occasions, and all that.

As Dinner, early on, I started doing group meditations at my shows. I would have the audience sit down and close their eyes. Then I put out a guided meditation (or hypnosis tape, as we called it at the time). And I started a series of guided meditations, mostly around LA, called "Dinner's Dream Journey”.

This segued into my ambient music project under my own name. I wanted to make music I myself could meditate to. I put out a series of five meditation albums and one guided meditation on Captured Tracks. I then moved from LA back to Denmark, which is where I'm based now. North of Copenhagen, close to the ocean and close to the forest.

I’ve recently started working intensely with field recordings. I'm currently working on a new album based on field recordings from Zealand.

When I play the ambient music live, it's in the form of a sound bath: a combination between a concert and a guided meditation. The audience lies down on yoga mats, listening with their eyes closed. I started incorporating a gong, which I mixed in with improvisational electronics.

I've been so lucky to play on a volcanic island in the Atlantic Ocean, do an 8-hour sleep concert on a rooftop in Manhattan, play north of the Arctic Circle in a small village, do sound baths for Google and Mercedes, as well as play in beautiful art museums in Denmark and abroad.
