6. Dream Journey

2015-2017
Project: Communal meditations, informal performancess

A series of informal, communal meditation and guided listening sessions that preceded Rhedin’s ambient music practice.

The project began with a guided audio work titled Dinner’s Dream Journey, released while Rhedin was living in Berlin. Rather than functioning as hypnosis, the work unfolded as spoken guidance combined with sustained sound and attention.

After moving to Los Angeles, the sessions took on a more communal form. With access to an empty gallery space adjacent to the offices of Panache Management in Highland Park, Rhedin began hosting free, open Dream Journeys — quiet, guided listening sessions situated somewhere between meditation, performance and gathering.

Similar sessions later took place in temporary and outdoor settings around Los Angeles, including a hillside in Malibu, a private garden in Pacific Palisades and small, improvised festival contexts. The format remained fluid and non-institutional, shaped by circumstance rather than fixed presentation.

Several of the early sessions involved participants from the music and media worlds and were occasionally documented in the press, reflecting the informal and exploratory nature of the project.

These early experiments in guided listening and shared stillness later evolved into Rhedin’s sound bath performances and ambient works.
