2. Water Songs

2025
Album,
 Captured Tracks

Water Songs was mostly recorded in rural Denmark, and released on Captured Tracks.

Drawing on the Japanese tradition of kankyō ongaku, or environmental music, the album brings synthesizers, gongs and cassette textures into conversation with field recordings of waves, wind through leaves and the creaking of trees. The surrounding landscape shapes both the sound and the pacing of the compositions.

The album’s second half centres on Water Meditation Music #1, a twenty-minute piece built around coastal recordings and slowly shifting electronic textures. Throughout the record, subtle variations take the place of dramatic development, creating an open, unhurried space for listening.
